TUBITAK Support for Scientific Project

Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Basic Sciences faculty member Dr. Ayça BAL ÖZTÜRK's project titled ‘’Development of New Generation DOPA-Modified, Antibacterial and Hemostatic Injectable Surgical Tissue Adhesives to Prevent Air Leakage After Lung Surgery’’ is supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1001 - Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program. The project will be carried out interdisciplinary; Assoc. Dr. Gökçen Yaşayan and Assist. Prof. Emine Alarcin from Marmara University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Assoc. Dr. Işık Perçin Demirçelik from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology; Tomris Çetin Gülşen, M.D. from University of Health Sciences, Sultan Abdülhamid Han Training and Research Hospital, Department of Thoracic Surgery. 
 
In the project, it is aimed to develop a new generation tissue adhesive with a direct and simple method in order to prevent air leaks that may occur due to lung surgery. It is expected that the project will meet the needs of the clinic by bringing a new approach to the prevention of air leaks after lung surgery by filling the gap in the literature.
