The First year students of İstinye University School of Pharmacy received their white coats as symbols of clinical service and care at the The White Coat ceremony held on the 5th of January 2019 at the Topkapı Campus of Istinye University.
The ceremony started with the speeches of Betül Sena DİNLER who entered Turkish Pharmacy Education Program as the top student and Dilara BAHÇECİ student represetative of English Pharmacy Education Program and went on with the speech of Dean Prof. Dr. Abdullah OLGUN emphasizing the importance of the ceremony as an introduction into pharmacy profession.
Prof.Abdullah Olgun also said that the biggest reforms in the field of health service will take place in pharmacy profession with the implementation and development of patient-centered pharmacy service which is symbolızed by White Coat and underlined the impotance of the project -centered education system adopted by the University.
Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Semra ŞARDAŞ, started her speech by her own-professional life story and explained how she started Pharmacy Education with a passion to be a community pharmacist and became a resercher afterwards. She continued by mentioning about the high capacity of research laboratories at İstinye University and said that she was sure the graduates will be successfull in their carrıer.
Pharm. Pınar ÖZCAN, Executive Member of Istanbul Pharmacist’s Chamber also delivered a speech at the ceremony and gave the students a wellcome message to the chamber and information about the routes they may follow after graduation.
Prof. Dr. Erdal KARAÖZ, Vice Rector of İstinye Üniversity, mention about the University’s contribution to the health service area by its infrastraucture and R&D center information about the infrastructure and pulled attention to the importance of the mission of the School of Pharmcy to raise Clinical Pharmacists. Prof. Dr. Erdal KARAÖZ said that he beleived the graduates of the Istinye University School of Pharmacy will represent the the universiry in the best way and honour the ISU family.
Pharm. Saliha USTA, a member of the University Baard of Trustees narrated how she decided to bocome a pharmacist, and asked the students why they have chosen this profession. She continued her speech by mentioning about the diffuculties of reaching information during her education period and said that the availibilies to provide information is very abundant at present and the students should be aware of and value such oppurtunities and she was honoured to be with students in such an exiciting event. After her speech Pharm. Saliha USTA presented the students their White Coats.
The White Coat ceremony continued with a theatre play performed by First Year Students organized by the support of Dr. Doğan Uvey who is one of School of Pharmacy academicians, and ended up with a concert given again by first year students.
