The May 14th Pharmacy Day, organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Istinye University, was celebrated at the Topkapı Campuss of Istinye University on May 14th 2018 with the participation of Pharmacist Saliha USTA, a trustee Member of the 21st Century Anatolia Foundation Board, Pharmacist Kazım Dinç, the former Minister of Health, and Pharmacist Specialist Buket Hekimhan Bayraktar.
Prof. Dr. Abdullah Olgun, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Istinye gave an opening speech on the history of evidence-based pharmacy and highlighted the importance of the pharmacy profession. Pharmacist Kazım Dinç, the former minister of health, talked about his professional expresiences. Pharmacist Saliha USTA, a trustee Member of the 21st Century Anatolia Foundation Board assessed how the pharmacy education needs to be done and the development of the pharmacy profession. Pharmacist Specialist Buket Hekimhan Bayraktar gave a speech on “the Pharmacist in Pharmaceutical Industry Today and Tomorrow”.
In the second part of the event Istinye University Faculty of Pharmacy students and academic staff had dinner together held the Topkapı Eresin Hotel. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Olgun, the Dean of the School of Pharmacy, celebrated the May 14th Day of the academic staff and students. In addition, Prof. Dr. Semra Sardaş and Prof. Dr. Tanju Ceyhan emphesiized the meaning of the day. Pharmacist Dr. Doğan Üvey talked about Pharmacists’s history. Fakulty of Pharmacy students Batuhan Alp Manur, Engin Deniz Ulukaya, Zeki Güleç and Güzide Elçin Durun gave a concert at the meeting.
