At the event organized by the Events Commission of the Faculty of Pharmacy, sophomores along with the Events Committee members in the School of Pharmacy at Istinye University visited Ali Raif Pharmaceutical Company. Students saw all the details abouts drugs from the drug’s planning phase to the final product and had a chance to ask what they wondered in the question and answer section.
In this activity, which has been previously organized and scheduled the Faculty of Pharmacy Activities Commission, Yeni Moda Pharmacy Store, which has been running for 120 years, was visited by Istinye University Faculty of Pharmacy students and the members of the Pharmacy Activities Commission.
A seminar entitled “Johannes Guthenberg University and Istinye University Faculty of Pharmacy Education”; Nihan Önal, a pharmacy undergraduate student at Johannes Gutenberg University-Germany, who completed her 2-month summer internship within the scope of Erasmus+ Internship Mobility Program at Istnye University and Sena Onuk, a pharmacy sophemore student at Istinye University, gave a seminar on differences between pharmacy education in Turkey ad in Germany.
Nihal Önal, junior student in the School of Pharmacy at Johannes Gutenberg University-Germany, completed her 2-month summer internship at our university. Johannes Gutenberg University, our partner university, will be accepting Faculty of Pharmacy students (at Istinye University) in the context of Erasmus+ Internship Mobility Program in the following years. We had an interview with Nihan Önal about her internship and educational differences in pharmacy between Turkey and Germany.
The first meeting of a series of meetings entitled “'Rational Drug Use Evaluation Meeting” organized by the Turkish Ministry of Health TITCK (Turkish Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency), which will be carried out throughout Turkey, was held on July 23rd 2018 (Monday) in Giresun-Turkey.
A TUBITAK-2209A grant proposal submitted by Engin Deniz Ulukaya and Ece Nur Müftüoğlu, sophomore students in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Istinye University, was accepted by TUBITAK. Deniz and Ece will work on the project as researchers under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Cenk A Andaç on the development of novel anticancer agents against chemotherapy-resistant cancer stem cells.
The dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Istinye Universit, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Olgun, gave a speech on “Evidence-based anti-aging in choemeetics” at a TV program so called Turkish Chosmetics Sector.

A new research article entitled “How does infection with Human Papillomavirus 16 and 18 impact on DNA damage and repair in cervical cells and peripheral blood?”, authored by Prof. Dr. Semra ŞARDAŞ, was published at OMICS A Journal of Integrative Biology.

The May 14th Pharmacy Day, organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Istinye University, was celebrated at the Topkapı Campuss of Istinye University on May 14th 2018 with the participation of Pharmacist Saliha USTA, a trustee Member of the 21st Century Anatolia Foundation Board, Pharmacist Kazım Dinç, the former Minister of Health, and Pharmacist Specialist Buket Hekimhan Bayraktar.

Faculty of Pharmacy faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. BALI Ayça OZTURK went to Italy to attend a PhD thesis defense of Beatrice Micolli, a PhD student at Politecnico di Torino University-Italy, on "Where Integrated Electronics Meets Bio/Micro-Technology: From Synthetic Microstructures to Living Cells On-Chip".
Our Faculty staff Asst. Assoc. Dr. Ayça Bal Öztürk’s research article entitled “Interconnectable Dynamic Compression Bioreactors for Combinatorial Screening of Cell Mechanobiology in Three-dimensions" was published at ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces" (Impact Factor: 7.5).
Our faculty staff Asst. Prof. Dr. Cenk A. Andac’s research article entitled "Determination of Antibiotic Resistance and Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis Profiles Judinshapur Journal of Microbiology. Dr. Andac’s article is about development of antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins, carbapenems, fluoroquinolones, tetracyclines, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole) resistance in E. coli isolates collected from in-patients staying at hospital in Konya province, which poses a serious risk in the treatment of nosocomal infections in Turkey.
The students of Pharmacy Faculty at Istinye University wore their aprons with a ceremony held in the Topkapı Campus of Istinye University. The ceremony started with the speech of our student, Sena BÜYÜKBAŞ and continued with the speech of Abdullah OLGUN, Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, about the importance of the day.
The event called The Use of Medicinal Plants in Korea which is organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy was held at our university with Dr. Su Hye LİM’s participation.
