Dr. Levent Alparslan Held a Seminar at the 1st Symposium on Integration of Pharmaceutical Knowledge

Students from Istinye University participated in the all-day Farmakogenomiks Workshop organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy.

After taking theoretical knowledge on basic topics such as system biology, pharmacogenomics and statistical analysis of transcriptom data; they learned how to analyze the data using excel, programs such as cytoscape and the use of various data banks.

The second year students at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Istinye University were entitled to receive support within the scope of the “TUBITAK 2209-B Industry Graduation Thesis Support Program” with the projects prepared by our faculty member Dr. Lecturer Ayça Bal Öztürk.

On 5 April 2019, the second year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Istinye University visited the Pathology Laboratory of GOP FT Training and Research Hospital and information was given about the applications.

Vice Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy at Istinye University Dr. Prof. Dr. Semra ŞARDAŞ and Dr. Lecturer Member Aslıgül KENDİRÇİ’s article "Panvigilance: Integrating Biomarkers in Clinical Trials for Systems Pharmacovigilance", published in the international OMICS journal; New York and Washington as a global press release published in the AAAS.

The article that is “Panvigilance Integrating Biomarkers in Clinical Trials for Systems Pharmacovigilance” was published by Professor Dr. Semra Sardaş and Dr. Lecturer Asligul Kendirci in last month, it was published in Washington (AAAS) news in New York City and, in addition, with a global-scale press release.

Working as a Business Development & Application Assistant Manager at MS / MS in Ant Technical Services, Dr Engin BAYRAM gave a seminar on “Beginning to End Method Development and Validation” for 2nd year students of Faculty of Pharmacy. In the seminar, sub-titles of method development, collection of resources, preparation, sample preparation and analysis method, validation, documentation and routine analysis were explained in detail. He also shared his professional and career experiences with the students. Following the presentation of Engin BAYRAM on method development, students summarized their acquisitions as a report in their laboratory books.

Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Abdullah Olgun gave a seminar entitled Aging: An Disease Caught on Everyone (?), in Molecular Biology and Genetics Department, Boğaziçi University, In his speech, our Dean stated that it is possible to take bioenvironmental age without aging because it is almost non-aging species in nature; he emphasized that understanding why and how aging is so critical for reducing age-related diseases. He emphasized that health professionals need to adhere to the principles of 'evidence-based medicine' to increase the accuracy of their 'anti-aging' recommendations and to apply the principle of 'prejudice' which is fundamental in medicine.

Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Özer Bekaroğlu has appeared in the journal Journal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines with his research article 'Synthesis, characterization and VOCs adsorption kinetics of diethylstilbestrol-substituted metallophthalocyanines'.

Badges, usually emblems of some professional associations, schools and societies, have been made so that people who are connected to that community can easily recognize each other.

Dr.Ayça Bal Öztürk’s research article with the heading "Sponge-like chitosan-based nanostructured antibacterial material as a topical hemostat" was published in “JOURNAL of APPLIED POLYMER”.

Prof. Dr. Özer Bekaroğlus’ research article titled “Synthesis, characterization, and DFT study of novel metallo phtalocyanines with four carboranyl clusters as photosensitisers for the photodynamic therapy of breast cancer cells” was published in “European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences”.

The First year students of İstinye University School of Pharmacy received their white coats as symbols of clinical service and care at the The White Coat ceremony held on the 5th of January 2019 at the Topkapı Campus of Istinye University.

Prof. Dr. Özer Bekaroğlu made his speech titled ”Bilimsel Araştırmalarda Etik Dışı Davranışlar ve Önleme Çabaları”.

Prof. Dr. Özer Bekaroğlus’ reaserach article with heading “Synthesis, Conductivity and Impedance Studies on across adjacent ring formed new metallo phthalocyanines“ was published in “European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry”.

Bayer Quality Project Manager, Mehmet Çalıkoğlu, gave a seminary to our second year students headed “The role of of Analytical Chemistry in the Quality Control of Pharmaceutical Products”.

At the event organized by the Events Commission of the Faculty of Pharmacy, sophomores along with the Events Committee members in the School of Pharmacy at Istinye University visited Ali Raif Pharmaceutical Company. Students saw all the details abouts drugs from the drug’s planning phase to the final product and had a chance to ask what they wondered in the question and answer section.

In this activity, which has been previously organized and scheduled the Faculty of Pharmacy Activities Commission, Yeni Moda Pharmacy Store, which has been running for 120 years, was visited by Istinye University Faculty of Pharmacy students and the members of the Pharmacy Activities Commission.

A seminar entitled “Johannes Guthenberg University and Istinye University Faculty of Pharmacy Education”; Nihan Önal, a pharmacy undergraduate student at Johannes Gutenberg University-Germany, who completed her 2-month summer internship within the scope of Erasmus+ Internship Mobility Program at Istnye University and Sena Onuk, a pharmacy sophemore student at Istinye University, gave a seminar on differences between pharmacy education in Turkey ad in Germany.

Nihal Önal, junior student in the School of Pharmacy at Johannes Gutenberg University-Germany, completed her 2-month summer internship at our university. Johannes Gutenberg University, our partner university, will be accepting Faculty of Pharmacy students (at Istinye University) in the context of Erasmus+ Internship Mobility Program in the following years. We had an interview with Nihan Önal about her internship and educational differences in pharmacy between Turkey and Germany.

The first meeting of a series of meetings entitled “'Rational Drug Use Evaluation Meeting” organized by the Turkish Ministry of Health TITCK (Turkish Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency), which will be carried out throughout Turkey, was held on July 23rd 2018 (Monday) in Giresun-Turkey.

A TUBITAK-2209A grant proposal submitted by Engin Deniz Ulukaya and Ece Nur Müftüoğlu, sophomore students in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Istinye University, was accepted by TUBITAK. Deniz and Ece will work on the project as researchers under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Cenk A Andaç on the development of novel anticancer agents against chemotherapy-resistant cancer stem cells.

The dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Istinye Universit, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Olgun, gave a speech on “Evidence-based anti-aging in choemeetics” at a TV program so called Turkish Chosmetics Sector.

Our faculty member Prof. Dr. Semra Sardaş talked about the side effects of weight loss pills available in the market live on A-Haber news.

Our faculty members Assoc. Prof. İnci KAYIN, teaching assitants Elif YAVUZ DOKGÖZ, Ayşegül ÇALIŞKAN and research assistant Meltem GÜLEÇ attended the Bioinformatics Forum on "Genome Sequencing and Bioinformatics" at Gebze Technical University.

A new research article entitled “How does infection with Human Papillomavirus 16 and 18 impact on DNA damage and repair in cervical cells and peripheral blood?”, authored by Prof. Dr. Semra ŞARDAŞ, was published at OMICS A Journal of Integrative Biology.

Teaching assistant Ayşegül Çalışkan, academic staff in the faculty of pharmacy, published a book chapter entitled “New Perspectives on Human transcriptional Overview and Regulatory Network”.

Faculty of Pharmacy students Süleyman Efe Ozkan and Bester Sahin attended the 5th National Pharmacy Students Congress to present their laboratory work under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayça Bal Öztürk.

The May 14th Pharmacy Day, organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Istinye University, was celebrated at the Topkapı Campuss of Istinye University on May 14th 2018 with the participation of Pharmacist Saliha USTA, a trustee Member of the 21st Century Anatolia Foundation Board, Pharmacist Kazım Dinç, the former Minister of Health, and Pharmacist Specialist Buket Hekimhan Bayraktar.
